Is Sol Fence only available in your area?
No! We plan to train fence companies and installers on Sol Fence installations nationwide. Our solar fence supplies benefit everyone and will be available to any certified installer.

How much more expensive is this than regular fencing?
Let’s be transparent - with federal tax credits, you’re looking at about twice the cost of a traditional PVC fence. However, unlike traditional fencing, this is an investment that pays you back through energy generation. Think of it as combining your fence budget with your solar investment - you’re getting two solutions in one, often with better ROI than traditional roof-mounted solar. (Batteries and electrical hookup are additional costs.)

Won’t this look ugly in my yard?
We love this question! Our fence actually has a sleek, modern aesthetic that many people surveyed prefer over traditional fencing. Both sides generate power, though one side is slightly more efficient. The best part? If you move, over 90% of the fence can be easily relocated, or you can convert it to a traditional fence using the existing posts. We wrote a blog about this, and think that my energy bills are much uglier than the solar fence. We ask people to go beyond surface level thinking as this is a new solution to generating power for you and your family.

How durable is a Sol Fence?
Incredibly durable! Our prototype has survived an EF3 tornado within 100 yards - didn’t even budge. And has gone on to survive 2 ice storms and many more strong storms and straight line winds. The panels are rated to withstand 115 mph winds. The solar panels are designed for 25+ years of weather exposure, maintaining 88% efficiency even after that time. Even if a baseball breaks the glass (which is tough to do), the panels are designed to stay intact and will continue to produce electricity until we can come out and replace it. The aluminum frame is built to industrial standards, and the posts could literally stop a car when properly installed. We drive our posts 4’ into the ground so they are not going anywhere!

What’s the panel data look like?
Power Generation • Each panel produces 400 watts/sunny hour¹/panel • New N type 430 watt panels now available • Average daily production: 2.5 kilowatt-hours² • Average monthly production: 84.35 kilowatt-hours² • A 6kW system generates 9,000 kilowatt-hours annually³ Real-World Results • From January 1st to May 21st, 2025, we have produced 700+ kilowatt hours from our fence. • The first Sol Fence installation produced 337 kilowatt-hours in just 4 months² • That’s enough electricity to run a refrigerator for nearly a year • 700 kWh can charge a standard laptop for 583 days Note: This was with 4 then 5 then 8, and finally 11 panels. So far we have produced 408.92 kWh of electricity in 2025 with all 11 panels. Per our EcoFlow battery data. Financial Benefits • Approximately $100 monthly savings on energy bills² • Cost per kilowatt-hour: Just $0.089⁴ • Return on investment: 4-9 years² • 30-year performance warranty⁴ Performance Advantages • Captures light from both sides of the panel¹ • Snow reflection can boost power by 80%⁴ • Grass reflection adds 25% more power⁴ • Operates 50% cooler than traditional panels, improving efficiency³ • More consistent energy production throughout the day (morning and afternoon)³ Durability • Panels withstand winds up to 115 mph² • Handles heavy snow loads (113 lbs. per square foot)⁴ • 25-year panel lifespan² • Less than 0.5% annual degradation rate³ • Rated for golf ball sized hail. How do I calculate the return on investment (ROI)?
We’ll help you crunch these numbers specifically for your property. The ROI calculation includes: • Your current electricity rates • Local sunshine averages • Available tax incentives (federal, state, and local) • Your energy usage patterns • Any net metering benefits from your utility Most of our customers see significant energy savings that help offset the initial investment over time. Typically 4-9 years.

How complicated is installation?
• A typical 200-foot installation takes approximately 2-5 days, similar to traditional fencing. • Our certified installers will be able to complete 100+ feet per day, with minimal ground disruption. • Electrical work typically requires a few additional days, depending on the layout of your yard. • We’ve designed the system to be straightforward while meeting all safety and code requirements.

Can it work with my existing solar setup?
Most likely! We’ve designed our system to be compatible with most modern inverters and battery systems. We will work with you on your best battery options. We can work with your existing setup or help you design a new system.

How much power can each panel generate?
400-watt solar panel can produce up to 400 watts of power at any given moment under ideal conditions (like bright, direct sunlight). Think of it like a garden hose—the watts are like the water flowing through the hose right now. It’s not about how much flows per hour, but rather how much can flow at any instant. To put 400 watts in perspective... • A typical LED light bulb uses about 10 watts • A laptop computer uses about 50-100 watts • A refrigerator uses about 100-200 watts when running • So a 400-watt panel could theoretically power • 40 LED light bulbs, or • 4-8 laptops, or • 2-4 refrigerators Now multiply that by the number of panels you will have in your fence.

How many panels will I need to power my home?
This is going to depend on a number of factors: • How much energy do you use per month? • How much of your yard receives decent sunlight? (Our panels are designed to perform even with some shade.) • How much do you want to save per month on your energy bills? For us to give you an accurate number we would need to do a proper estimate. What’s the actual cost compared to traditional fencing?
Let’s break this down clearly. With current federal tax incentives, here’s how the solar fence typically compares • About 3x the cost of a cedar wood fence • About 2x the cost of standard PVC fencing. But here’s the key difference - unlike traditional fencing, our system will save you money. Think of it as buying a fence that helps pay your electric bill! Also factor in that maintenance costs will also be lower than a traditional fence. No other fence can do this! (Batteries and electrical hookup are additional costs.)

Why isn’t pricing listed on your website?
Every property is unique, and we believe in providing accurate, property-specific quotes rather than ballpark figures that might be misleading. Factors like length, height, terrain, electrical requirements and local installation costs all affect the final price. We’ll provide you with a free, detailed quote that breaks down every cost component so you can make an informed decision.
